Passivity-preserving model reduction by analytic interpolation

چکیده
Antoulas and Sorensen have recently proposed a passivity-preserving model-reduction method of linear systems based on Krylov projections. The idea is to approximate a positive-real rational transfer function with one of lower degree. The method is based on an observation by Antoulas (in the single-input/singleoutput case) that if the approximant is preserving a subset of the spectral zeros and takes the same values as the original transfer function in the mirror points of the preserved spectral zeros, then the approximant is also positive real. However, this turns out to be a special solution in the theory of analytic interpolation with degree constraint developed by Byrnes, Georgiou and Lindquist, namely the maximum-entropy (central) solution. By tuning the interpolation points and the spectral zeros, as prescribed by this theory, one is able to obtain considerably better reduced-order models. We also show that, in the multi-input/multi-output case, Sorensen’s algorithm actually amounts to tangential Nevanlinna–Pick interpolation. © 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Reduced order modeling of ODE-PDE networks
We propose a model order reduction (MOR) approach for networks containing simple and complex components modeled by linear ODE and nonlinear PDE systems respectively. These systems are coupled through the network topology using the Kirchhoff laws. We consider as application MOR for electrical networks, where semiconductors form the complex components. These systems are coupled through the network topology using the Kirchhoff laws. As application we consider MOR for electrical networks, where semico...

The increasing operating frequencies and decreasing IC feature size call for 3-D electromagnetic (EM) methods, such as the Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) method, as necessary tools for the analysis and design of high-speed systems. Very large systems of equations are often generated by 3-D EM methods and model order reduction (MOR) techniques are commonly used to reduce such a high m...
متن کاملThe PABTEC Algorithm for Passivity-Preserving Model Reduction of Circuit Equations
We present a passivity-preserving balanced truncation model reduction method for circuit equations (PABTEC). This method is based on balancing the solutions of the projected Lur’e equations and admit computable error bounds. We show how the topological structure of circuit equations can be exploited to reduce the computational complexity of the presented model reduction method.

We consider passivity-preserving model reduction of circuit equations using the bounded real balanced truncation method applied to a Moebius-transformed system. This method is based on balancing the solutions of the projected Lur’e or Riccati matrix equations. We also discuss their numerical solution exploiting the underlying structure of circuit equations. A numerical example is given.
